A person who contaminated treats with sleeping medication and provided them to youngsters at a summer program in Leicestershire has admitted sexual crimes against two young males who were nine and ten years old.

Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight minors and an older person became sick at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.

The elderly man, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the courthouse on recently.

However, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old child.

The accused was held in detention prior to a additional proceeding on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

The legal representative, presenting evidence, detailed the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.

She explained his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a summer camp which he ran.

The defendant conducted a "candy game" with the minors, the prosecutor explained, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".

She told the court the defendant had conducted this practice with the children "repeatedly", and children had earlier experienced illness the following morning.

She stated the man had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had suspicions in recently.

Mrs Prior KC continued: "This year his stepchild had worries about what was going on, justifiably.

"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."

The prosecutor said objects including lubricant, ointment and syringes were discovered, and his stepson contacted the police about his worries.

She said the defendant continued to play the "candy game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.

"Authorities" had not responded by that time," she stated further.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, previously told that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the incident.

The legal representative stated the children were struggling to walk due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson called the authorities a second time.

She stated the defendant then conducted the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
