19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Now working with Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's first championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has won 21 victories at 21 different events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

The champion recovered from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The pair swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first professional victory, gained dominance to force a third set.

He saved 4 initial break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, he earned victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
