Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Police state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found multiple other marked cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; investigators are presently not informed of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the residents for tips.
An important official commented the vandalism made him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right attack in 2020," he stated on online, referring to the death of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at people of migrant background in five years prior.
